Tension settings

The Hobbylock 4760 has four tension dials: blue left needle, green right needle, red right looper, and yellow left looper. The standard mark is N, lined up with the coloured dot. Turning toward + is tighter. Adjust one dial at a time on scrap fabric.

Common problems

  • Skip stitches Fit a new HAx1 (130/705H) needle, size 80 or 90, flat side to the back, and seat it fully.
  • Wavy seams Differential feed runs from 0.5 to 2. Normal sewing is N. Raise it between 1.5 and 2 for wavy seams on knits, or lower it toward 0.5 if lightweight fabric puckers, and support the fabric as it feeds.
  • Thread breaking Re-thread that path with the presser foot up, then ease its tension one number.
