Tension settings

The Hobbylock 2.5 sets the tension with the Auto Tension Dial. Four fine-tuning levers sit beside it: blue left needle, green right needle, red upper looper, and yellow lower looper. Adjust one at a time on scrap fabric.

Common problems

  • Skip stitches Fit a new ELx705 needle, size 80 or 90, flat side to the back, and seat it fully.
  • Wavy seams Differential feed runs from 0.6 to 2.0. Normal sewing is 1.0. Raise it between 1 and 2 for wavy seams on knits, or lower it toward 0.6 if lightweight fabric puckers, and support the fabric as it feeds.
  • Thread breaking Re-thread that path with the presser foot up, then ease its tension one number.
