Tension settings

The 735D has four tension dials: left needle, right needle, upper looper, and lower looper. Fine-tune one dial at a time on scrap fabric.

Common problems

  • Skip stitches Fit a new HAx1 (130/705H) needle, size 80 or 90, flat side to the back, and seat it fully.
  • Wavy seams Differential feed is the control on the side. Raise it for wavy seams on knits, or lower it if lightweight fabric puckers, and support the fabric as it feeds.
  • Thread breaking Re-thread that path with the presser foot up, then ease its tension one number.
