Tension settings

The 905 has four tension dials: left needle, right needle, upper looper, and lower looper. Fine-tune one dial at a time on scrap fabric.

Common problems

  • Skip stitches Fit a new 130/705H needle, size 80 or 90, flat side to the back, and seat it fully.
  • Wavy seams On knits, raise the differential feed above its normal mark. On puckered lightweight fabric, lower it, and support the fabric as it feeds.
  • Thread breaking Re-thread that path with the presser foot up, then ease its tension one number.
